Performance coach Jamie Edwards explains how replacing “chats” with “conversations” is a winning strategy for being a successful leader.

“Have the honest conversations with yourself, then have the ability to have honest conversations with others,” he told Business Insider.

“Most of the honest conversations happen everywhere they shouldn’t – at the water cooler, in the men’s room or the ladies. But they don’t happen around the table.”

“The real leadership is the ability to distinguish ‘Is this a chat or is it a conversation?’”

Edwards is the founder of Trained Brain and has worked with elite sports stars like Gareth Bale and Joe Hart.
