‘The Simpsons’ just unleashed the most brutal attack on Donald Trump yet
Fox
“The Simpsons” has never been shy about going after political figures, but its latest attack on Donald Trump makes its old George H.W. Bush jokes look like softballs.
In a new clip posted by the show, Homer and Marge Simpson watch a fake political ad that shows a stark difference between the two presidential candidates when it comes to the proverbial 3 a.m. call.
In the Hillary Clinton version, Bill tries to answer the call from the Situation Room, but he’s reminded by his wife that “from now on, it’s always for me.”
That’s nothing compared to the Trump version. In bed (next to a copy of Hitler speeches), he ignores the Situation Room call because he’s too busy tweeting insults about Elizabeth Warren, whom he’s exiled from the US as president. After rattling off a list of demands to his staff that includes scrambled eggs in a gold plate, he gets ready for his day, which includes putting on large prosthetic hands and using a small dog for hair.
By the time Trump is ready for the Situation Room, hours later, Chinese fleets are advancing and it’s too late. He tells his underlings to “just build another wall” in the ocean.
That’s as hilarious as “The Simpsons” has been in years, but in its own way, it also paints a portrait of a Trump presidency that’s way darker than anything we’ve seen from John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, or the like. The animated sitcom that actually predicted a Preisdent Trump 16 years ago just came back to show us how political satire is done.
