Matt Lauer is living the good life.
The Today Show anchor just dropped $36.5 million on Strongheart Manor, a breathtaking waterfront estate in Sag Harbor, that used to be owned by actor Richard Gere.
The house is a whopping 19,000 square feet, and it features the newest types of technology and appliances, according to Trulia.
The other amenities on the estate, from its massive pool to its private deep-water dock, are sure to keep Lauer busy when he’s not on set in New York City.
Take a look inside this impressive home.
Strongheart Manor is located on 6.3 acres of gorgeous Hamptons waterfront property.
The 19,000-square-foot main house is just one of several buildings on the estate.
It was originally built in 1902, but it has been restored and updated with all of the newest technology.
The formal living rooms are perfectly decorated in traditional Hamptons style. There are fireplaces throughout the home, too.
The airy kitchen offers all of the latest appliances, but the room still maintains a sense of simplicity.
This dining room is a perfect gathering place.
12 bedrooms in the house mean that there is plenty of room for visitors, and many offer the spectacular views that make the property so valuable.
The house’s 12 bathrooms guarantee that no one will have to share.
The waterfront vistas can be enjoyed from the spacious screened-in porch, which runs the entire length of the house and ensures insect-free relaxation.
The estate provides exceptional views of the Peconic Bay and Mashomack Preserve. The property boasts 300 feet of land directly along the bay.
The house’s outdoor amenities are nothing to smirk at: this 60-foot, heated pool provides an alternative to swimming in the salty waters of the bay.w
For a boating enthusiast, the estate’s 240-foot private deep-water dock assures easy access.
As far as other activities go, the property comes with a gym, basketball court, and room for tennis courts.
Two renovated guesthouses on the property promise plenty of space and privacy for everyone.
The outdoor fireplace pavilion is the best way to enjoy warm summer nights, and is ideal for entertaining.
Gorgeous lawns, flower gardens, and trees make it especially serene.
Despite everything that the estate offers, Richard Gere’s original asking price for the property—$65 million when he first tried to sell it in 2013—seems incredibly high.
Luckily for Lauer, Gere slashed the price twice before they eventually settled at $36.5 million.
Although that still doesn’t sound like a bargain, Lauer seems happy enough with his new purchase. According to Page Six, he plans to keep his 40-acre farm in Water Mill, NY, but will sell two other of his Hamptons homes to focus on this one.
